During the Easter bank holiday, C4 Logistics UK were contacted by a customer requiring a shipment via artic vehicle from Ornoy in France to Kenitra in Morocco. This was an especially challenging shipment to coordinate for the operations staff at C4 Logistics UK. The customer required door to door collection and delivery, road transportation via an arctic trailer, import and export customs clearance and a sea crossing to Tangiers. All elements of the transport had to be perfectly coordinated to ensure a seamless transition of the cargo from one country to another. Operations staff initially arranged for the sea crossing before sourcing an available arctic in France to collect the shipment and transport it to the port. Custom’s clearance was arranged in advance for both the import and export through one of our dedicated customs agents. Once the cargo had cleared customs it travelled seamlessly on to Kenitra without any delay. The customer was kept updated on the location and progress of the shipment through our innovative C4SightTM tracking software.

ISO 9001-2015 is the international standard for quality management systems (QMS.) A government-recognised certification, ISO specifies the requirements companies must meet with their QMS to achieve international accreditation.
During a rigorous inspection, an independent awarding body assessed C4 UK’s QMS procedures against multiple industry standards. C4 UK were required to provide evidence of adherence to standards for risk management, service quality, carrier selection and ongoing staff training and monitoring. Implementation of the quality standards was found to be excellent in all areas.

Any disruption to manufacturing can leave companies facing delays to their scheduled supply chain. In-house transport plans do not have the flexibility to absorb set-backs caused by unscheduled line-stoppages. Coordinating multiple-transport shipments can be both complicated and time consuming. At C4 Logistics we know that our customers’ time is valuable, therefore we offer a bespoke door-to-door service to take the stress out of shipping.
C4 UK recently provided an excellent example of a door-to-door service. Operations staff were contacted by a customer requiring an urgent hand-carry service for a high value package. The package was to be shipped from the USA to the UK, making it a complex multi-component transit. Collection, air transportation, customs clearance and final delivery all needed to be coordinated individually by operations staff.
C4 UK initially contracted a dedicated courier to collect the parcel from York in the USA. The courier accompanied the parcel to Philadelphia International airport and onto the plane as hand-carry luggage. During transit to London Heathrow, an appointed customs officer was organised to meet the courier at the terminal upon arrival. The officer provided the necessary paperwork, ensuring a rapid transition through customs. Once cleared of customs, the shipment was passed to a second contracted driver who was immediately dispatched to complete the shipment to Pickering in the UK.
The complete shipment took less than 24hrs with seamless transitions. Regular updates from the C4Sight app provided the customer with extra peace of mind, allowing them to track their package throughout the transit.

This was demonstrated recently when the team at C4 Hungary were commissioned to transport a single large pallet into Germany. To ensure the rate was kept as low as possible, a part-load option was sourced and booked on a scheduled vehicle departing later that evening. However, immediately prior to loading, the customer’s requirements altered unexpectedly. A second large pallet was identified, requiring shipment to the same destination but from a different collection point. The addition of the second pallet exceeded the weight limit of the contracted vehicle, leaving the team with no other option than to source an alternative solution.
The default option was to simply contract a second dedicated vehicle for the additional pallet; however, this would have incurred a large cost increase to the customer. Remaining dedicated to keeping the cost as low as possible, the team at C4 Hungary swiftly sourced a replacement solution. An alternative part load option on a subsequent scheduled vehicle was found, large enough for both pallets and at a significantly lower cost. The delivery was completed successfully and for the most competitive rate.

A proactive ethos is vital in time critical logistics, but sometimes reacting quickly to unexpected situations can prove essential. At C4 Logistics our operations staff undergo continuous training and skills assessments, leaving them equipped to react professionally and rapidly should the unexpected occur.
C4 operations were recently contracted to complete an emergency shipment from the Czech Republic to the UK. The shipment was essential to prevent a possible line stoppage at automotive giant Honda. Part-way through the transport, the arctic vehicle contracted suffered an unforeseeable breakdown, leaving the shipment at danger of delay. The C4 operations staff actively tracking the shipment, immediately logged the issue and started to work on a solution. Dispatch of a replacement articulated lorry to complete the delivery would cause a delay in delivery time and a potential line stoppage – an unacceptable outcome. The operations team called upon their wealth of experience and training to source an alternative option. Three sprinter vans were immediately dispatched to the scene of the breakdown. Sprinter vans can travel significantly faster than an arctic and they arrived at the scene of the breakdown in under an hour. Upon arrival, the load was swiftly transferred and dispatched to the destination, ultimately arriving an hour ahead of the scheduled delivery time.

Working as a trade association, the IATA represents the world’s major airlines, maintaining global standards for airline safety, security, efficiency and sustainability. To achieve accreditation from the IATA, companies are required to demonstrate a high level of skill and competency in all areas of air transportation.
Team members employed by C4 France completed a comprehensive training course covering air shipment specifics such as transportation of dangerous goods. Before accreditation could be awarded, staff were required to demonstrate an exceptionally high standard of industry knowledge and complete several grueling assessment tasks.
